Trauma Conditions & Procedures

Dr Janan Chandrananth treats the spectrum of orthopaedic trauma and performs the fixation procedures used to manage them, from fractures and paediatric injuries through to soft tissue reconstruction. Browse conditions and procedures below, or read on to find the right page for your injury.

Recently injured? If you cannot put weight on the limb, have tenderness directly over bone, or the area looks out of shape, it may be fractured — an X-ray is the only reliable way to tell. If you could keep going at the time but pain and swelling followed, a soft tissue injury is more likely. Either way, the pages below explain what to expect.

Injuries We Treat

Dr Janan has written a series of plain-language guides answering the questions patients ask most after an injury:

  • How Long Does It Take for a Broken Ankle to Heal?

  • Do All Fractures Need Surgery?

  • What's the Difference Between a Sprain and a Fracture?

  • When Can My Child Return to Sport After a Growth Plate Injury?

  • Will I Need Physiotherapy After Fracture Surgery?

  • What's Involved in Surgery for a Broken Leg?

  • How Are Soft Tissue Injuries Treated Differently From Fractures?

  • What Are the Warning Signs a Fracture Isn't Healing Properly?

Dr Janan completed a dedicated paediatric orthopaedic fellowship at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, USA, and treats children's fractures and growth plate injuries alongside adult trauma.
